French President Macron Projected Winner in Election as Le Pen Concedes

French voters went to the polls Sunday for the presidential election run-off between incumbent President Emmanuel Macron and National Rally candidate Marine Le Pen. Macron is expected to take 58.2 percent of the vote to Le Pen’s 41.8 percent. Pollsters Ipsos & Sopra, according to an analysis of voting data by pollsters Ipsos & Sopra Steria for French mainstream outlets. French pollsters often release projections at 8 p.m. local time in France after the polls close in major cities—hours before the Ministry of the Interior releases its official results to the public. Minutes after Macron was projected to be the winner, Le Pen conceded defeat via her social media. She said the election was still a win for her political movement. ...
