GameStop Trading Halted 4 Times Owing to Dramatic Movements

Trading of GameStop stock was halted by Nasdaq four times on May 12 as the share price kept rising and falling dramatically amid the index registering a decline. GameStop shares were halted at around 10:14 a.m., 10:20 a.m., 10:25 a.m., and 10:31 a.m., with the stops followed by resumption of trading a few minutes later, according to Nasdaq Trader. After the fourth halt, trading in GameStop resumed at nearly 10:36 a.m. Opening at around $83.07 per share, GameStop spiked to around $107.85 per share, an increase of nearly 30 percent. The lowest the share fell for the day was around $77.98. It was trading at $88.75 as of 17:34 UTC. At this time, the Nasdaq 100 was trading at 11,833, a decline of 1.12 percent.
