A Conservative leadership candidate says he was unfairly disqualified from running in the contest despite meeting all the requirements, and is asking the party to review his case and reinstate his candidacy. Joel Etienne, a Toronto-based lawyer and Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) candidate for York Centre in the 2021 federal election, questions whether his disqualification is related to his work defending human rights abuse victims of communist China. He also wonders if decision-makers are trying to have a certain composition of candidates on the ballot so that their “favourite candidate” can win. Etienne has outlined his grievance and request in a nine-page document submitted to the CPC Dispute Resolution Committee, a copy of which was obtained by The Epoch Times. ...
