China Continues to Fall Short in Protecting Intellectual Property, US Says

The United States on April 27 called out the Chinese regime for its continued failure to deliver on its commitment to protect intellectual property (IP). “China needs to complete the full range of fundamental changes that are required to improve the IP landscape in China. In particular, China needs to address weak enforcement channels and a lack of transparency and Judicial independence,” stated an annual report (pdf) by The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR). The report came after U.S. trade officials have repeatedly criticized Beijing for failing to meet a range of trade commitments, including its purchase pledges under the 2020 “phase one” trade deal. USTR Katherine Tai said last month that Washington was seeking a “realignment” of its trade policy towards China, but the administration has not yet articulated a specific approach to Beijing and has largely continued the Trump administration’s policies. ...
