The Pentagon on Wednesday said Russia notified the United States ahead of its test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile. Russia’s first test launch of its Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, a new addition to its nuclear arsenal, was not deemed as a “threat” to the United States and its allies, the Pentagon said. Russian President Vladimir Putin on state television described the missile as a “truly unique weapon.” The weapon will “strengthen the combat potential of our armed forces, reliably ensure Russia’s security from external threats and provide food for thought for those who, in the heat of frenzied aggressive rhetoric, try to threaten our country,” Putin said. ...
